Radu
Simion
Born in 1940 in a
Romanian village in Arges county, Radu Simion is one of the most gifted
pan-pipe interpreters in the world. He graduated the Music High School
in Bucharest as one of the most beloved pupils of the famous pan-pipe
artist Fanica Luca and he became soloist of the Bucarest Folkloric Ensemble
"Perinita".
The musical and general culture acquired at the music school opened a new scope to the young musician. While keeping a feeling of deep reverence towards his maestro, the man who guided his steps in art and helped him to master the simple but difficult instrument carrying the name of Pan, he carried the fame of the Romanian pan-pipe, permanently improving its technique, discovering new variants of the old instrument by increasing the number of pipes (especially in the grave register), thus enriching and diversifying the musical repertoire.

France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, England, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, U.S.A.,

was already 15 years old, Salvador Dali invited him to play in his painting

begun a long tour in Israel with the Music-Hall Theatre "Constantin
Tanase" from Bucharest.
His repertoire
is mostly the result of his own passionate researches of the Romanian
rich folkloric treasure, The songs and dances gathered from their very
source bear the mark of authenticity and exceptional artistic value, while
his outstanding interpretation inspired his enthusiastic audience:
"Radu Simion is a wonderful pan-pipe player, who brings superior
note without doing any harm to the homogeneity of the whole
"
(Le Progrès, France);
"As far as the Pan pipe is concerned, this musician has reached perfection
"
